From its establishment over 60 years ago, Aiiku Hospital’s Obstetrics and Gynecology Department has been considering the safety of the mother and child as our top priority,and encouragement of “natural birth” as our basic philosophy. This concept has not changed to the present day.
From April, 1999 when the Tokyo Metropolitan Government designated the hospital as a General Perinatal Maternal & Child Medical Center which includes Maternal-Fetal Intensive Care Unit, the hospital has been pursuing the goal of being even more committed to safety. Aiiku Hospital provides comprehensive services including labor, delivery, postpartum and newborn care. Services are provided for both high-risk and low-risk pregnancies and newborns. Obstetricians and certified nurse midwives are in the hospital at all times to cope with situations requiring immediate attention.
Over 1,500 babies are delivered at Aiiku each year. The competent and caring nursing staff of Aiiku strives to honor every family’s individual birth plan within a private, home-like environment. The Birth Suites have private rooms for labor, delivery, and recovery period, and two cesarean section operating rooms. The unit was designed to respect privacy and family involvement at all stages of the birthing process. We encourage family participation in the birth. We provide skin to skin, mother-baby contact if you wish. We offer public cord blood bank coordination but private ones.
After birth, you and your baby remain under highly personalized care. You have the option of having your baby stay in your room with you and that enables you to learn how to take care of your new infant. Our certified nurse midwives will help you to take care of your baby step by step. And mothers also receive breast-feeding information and assistance from specially trained midwives during their hospital stay. Our staff is ready to answer questions and support families who are accepting a new baby into the family.
We also provide care to women who are hospitalized before delivery because of complications of pregnancy. Members of the nursing staff provide one-on-one teaching and antepartum support is also available.
Our outpatient clinic provides antepartum medical examinations and treatments for disorder of the female reproductive, and urinary systems as well as
adolescence & menopause disorders.

Making an appointment
You are encouraged to make an initial appointment soon after you discover you are pregnant and within the first 10 weeks of gestation for sure.
If you have a health condition that could affect your pregnancy or your child’s development, Aiiku Hospital doctors highly recommend pre-conception
visits.
The first visit includes through medical history taking, risk assessment and educational session with specially trained nurses.
Appropriate follow-up appointments and laboratory testing are also arranged. Call 03-6453-7311

Hospitalization fee for childbirth
If the delivery is normal with no abnormalities, and both mother and baby are healthy during the postpartum period, the hospitalization fee for both mother and one baby will be \ 819,000 for 6 days in a four-person room. There is an additional charge for a private room.
If there is any abnormality in the delivery, the co-payment for examination, treatment, or medication, etc. will be added to the above charges.
If the mother or the child has some abnormality, the length of hospital stay and cost will differ.
Aiiku hospital is enrolled in the obstetric no-fault compensation system of Japan Council for Quality Health Care, the insurance premium of which is included in the above charges. If you are covered by Japanese health insurance system, the insurance premium will be paid by the health insurance association.
If you are covered by Japanese health insurance system, the direct lump-sum payment system for childbirth and childcare is applied at our hospital. The procedure will be explained to you after your hospitalization.

＊ We will ask your preference for the type of room basically after delivery.
When we have many delivery cases with a rush, we may not be able to fulfill your wish.
If a private room or special room becomes available during your childbirth (while you are in the delivery room), the room charge is incurred once the room is kept for you whether you use the room or not.
Only in the special room, a family member (one adult only; children are not allowed) may stay overnight with the patient during the post-delivery period at the cost of \1,000 per night. As it requires permission, please talk to the ward staff if you want.

If you are admitted to the hospital at 23:00, you should pay one-day charge for the hour till 24:00.

*3 Please bring your own toiletries such as soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.
Delivery registration fee/Deposit for delivery hospitalization at Aiiku hospital
\ 4,000 is charged at the time of delivery registration at the outpatient clinic. This fee is an administrative cost and will not be refunded even if you cancel the delivery registration.
The deposit for delivery hospitalization is \ 200,000. Please pay it at the Admission & Discharge Support on the 1st floor at the time of admission to the hospital for delivery.
If your hospitalization is at night or on a holiday, please pay on the next business day. The deposit will be a part of the payment at the time of discharge, so please keep the receipt and submit it at the time of discharge payment.
Cash, debit cards, and credit cards (VISA, Master, JCB, SAISON, Diners, AMERICAN EXPRESS) can be used for payment. Please be aware of credit card limits and, if necessary, check with your credit card company.

Anesthesiology
The Department of Anesthesiology provides not only anesthesia for gynecological surgeries and cesarean sections,but also obstetric analgesia to relieve labor pain for patients who wish to receive it.
Presently, most parturients receive anesthesia care. We will make every possible effort to ensure a comfortable delivery and to take safety.
Labor Epidural Analgesia / Painless Delivery
We provide pain relief during labor (Labor Epidural, Painless Delivery) at any time for 24 hours if expectant mother requires it.

Pediatric Surgery
What is Pediatric Surgery??
Pediatric Surgery concentrates on the special surgical care of children.
We focus on the care for newborn babies, infants, children, and adolescents until age 15.
Pediatric Surgeons treat a wide variety of clinical problems in non-cardiac thoracic surgery (trachea or respiratory disorders),
gastroenterology (gastrointestinal or hepatic & biliary tract disorders), urology & gynecology
(kidney, ureter, bladder, urethra, penis, testicle or ovarian disorders), endocrinology (thyroid, parathyroid, or adrenal disorders) with congenital
and acquired conditions.
We provide a room suite that both you and your child are able to stay together called “Baby & Mother Cube”. You are an important part of your child’s
healthcare team. Toddlers are most disturbed by separation. We try to avoid the fear of separation by keeping the mothers & the kids together all the time.
We strive to make every child and family’s visit as easy and comfortable as possible.
We are able to meet with you and your family for a surgical consultation during office hours,

Internal medicine for women ・ Internal medicine
At the Department of Internal medicine for Women, female doctors examine health problems that are common in women, such as,
constipation, asthma, the inflammation of the bladder, anemia, insomnia, etc.
Prescriptions during pregnancy or breast-feeding are also available.
Services for husband and families are also available at the Department of Internal Medicine. Internist has medical expertise in medical examination,
diagnosis, and treatment of various adult diseases. Our Physicians at Aiiku Hospital are specialized in Internal Medicine:
specifically cardiovascular medicine (Tuesdays) and diabetology (Mondays,Wednesdays,Fridays). Internists have medical expertise in medical examination, diagnosis, and treatment of various adult diseases.
Minato City offers aid to its residents for women's health exams at Aiiku Hospital. For more information, contact the Health Service Subsection, Health Promotion Section (Public Health Services Center).
Aid is also given for immunization.
