Information on Preconception Check (Eligible for Tokyo Metropolitan Government Subsidy)

A preconception check is a set of medical examinations for individuals who are currently planning a pregnancy or considering pregnancy in the future, as preparation for a healthy childbirth. It helps assess lifestyle habits and health conditions that should be optimized before pregnancy, and provides appropriate medical guidance and care. This program is eligible for the Tokyo “Preconception Seminar” subsidy.

Aiiku Hospital has been designated as a registered medical institution for the TOKYO Preconception Seminar program.

What is Preconception Care?

Preconception care refers to acquiring accurate knowledge about sexuality and pregnancy, and promoting appropriate health management. Even if you are not planning an immediate pregnancy, it is a concept focused on undergoing health checks and establishing healthy lifestyle habits in preparation for the future.

What is the “TOKYO Preconception Seminar”?

The TOKYO Preconception Seminar is a monthly program organized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to encourage awareness and engagement in preconception care among young adults.It is open to Tokyo residents aged 18-39, regardless of relationship status.Participants who complete the seminar and subsequently undergo designated fertility-related examinations and consultations at our hospital may be eligible for a subsidy of up to JPY 30,000 from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (available for female patients only at our hospital).

Preconception Consultation at Our Hospital

At our hospital, perinatal specialists will conduct consultations and provide the following examinations.

We offer packaged plans, but individual selection of tests is also available upon request.

In addition to examination fees, the following consultation fees apply:

　・Initial consultation fee: JPY 6,600

　・Follow-up consultation fee: JPY 3,300

　・Counseling fee (midwife-led health guidance): JPY 1,500

　・Nutrition consultation (optional): JPY 1,500

Appointment Process After Completing the TOKYO Preconception Seminar

①Outpatient Appointment

　・Thursdays (1st, 3rd, and 5th week)

　・13:00-16:00

Please avoid menstruation when possible for scheduling.

　・Follow-up visits: online booking under “Preconception (Tokyo Subsidy) Clinic”

②Consultation & Examination

After check-in, please proceed to the Internal Medicine reception on the 2nd floor.Please present your TOKYO Preconception Seminar completion certificate (printed or shown on a smartphone).

Based on your questionnaire and consultation with a physician, appropriate tests will be selected. After the medical consultation, a midwife will provide health guidance. A registered dietitian may also provide nutritional counseling upon request.

If you choose hormone testing, a separate visit during menstruation will be required for blood sampling.

③Test Result Explanation

Please schedule a follow-up appointment for result explanation at least two weeks after testing.

We recommend in-person consultation; however, postal delivery of results is available upon request (additional fee: JPY 2,000).

④Survey and Subsidy Application

Please complete the Tokyo Metropolitan Government survey and submit your subsidy application.

Please keep your receipt issued at the time of testing, as it is required for submission.

If Further Treatment is Required

If the test results indicate the need for further evaluation or treatment, a follow-up appointment will be arranged from the next available day for additional examination and/or treatment under insurance coverage.

Referral to other medical institutions or specialties may be made depending on the condition. Nutritional counseling is also available upon request with our registered dietitian.
